Apprentice Steam Fitter

The role

Thor Plumbing & Heating is looking for Apprentice Steam Fitters who want to develop their skills in mechanical piping and construction. You’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople on commercial, institutional and industrial projects while progressing through your apprenticeship.

The role provides hands-on experience with piping systems, drawings, materials and installation practices, with increasing responsibility as your skills develop.

What you’ll do

• Assist with the installation of mechanical piping systems
• Measure, cut and prepare pipe and related materials
• Assist with fitting, assembly and installation of piping components
• Install supports, hangers and related hardware
• Learn to read mechanical drawings and project specifications
• Use hand and power tools safely and correctly
• Maintain materials, tools and an organized work area
• Complete required apprenticeship training and on-the-job hours

What we’re looking for

• Registered apprentice or eligible to enter the applicable apprenticeship program
• Strong interest in mechanical piping and the skilled trades
• Willingness to learn from experienced Journeypersons and field leaders
• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools
• Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work effectively as part of a construction crew
• Ability to follow drawings, instructions and established work procedures
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Valid driver’s licence considered an asset
